What KeepsakeGrid actually does

Every point below is a feature the product ships today. Nothing on this page describes a roadmap.

Group belongings your own way

Collections are just groups you name, so they work as rooms, categories, or people.

Create groups such as kitchen, workshop, or instruments, each with its own colour and description.
Record maker, year, condition, and an estimated value for each item.
Keep serial or reference numbers on the record where you can actually find them again.
Private notes hold purchase details, repairs, and anything else you want alongside the item.

Photographs and paperwork detail

A photo and a serial number are what turn a list into something useful after a loss or a move.

Up to 4 private photos per item, 5 MB each.
Photos are stored privately and are never included in a shared page or an export file.
Value history keeps a dated trail of your own estimates as they change.

Getting the list out again

An inventory earns its keep on the day someone else needs to read it.

Export a CSV that opens directly in a spreadsheet, or JSON that keeps records and value history together.
Import an existing spreadsheet with a preview that reports row errors and duplicates first.
Exports contain the record fields, not the photo files.

What it deliberately does not do

Any tool for this job is only worth choosing once its limits are clear, so here are KeepsakeGrid's before you start typing in records.

Recorded values are your own estimates. KeepsakeGrid never presents them as appraisals, insurance values, or live market prices.
There is no barcode lookup, licensed catalogue data, or automatic pricing. Every record is one you type or import.
Private notes, serial numbers, wishlist items, photos, and valuation history are never included in a shared page.
This is a personal record, not an insurance product. There are no room or location fields, no receipt attachments, no depreciation, and no insurance report format.

Questions about personal inventory app

Is this a home inventory for insurance?

Not on its own. You can record what you own, what you think it is worth, its serial number, and a photo, and export that as CSV or JSON. KeepsakeGrid does not produce insurance schedules, appraisals, or claim documents, and the values are your own estimates.

Can I record where something is kept?

There is no location field. People usually name a collection after a room or a storage box, or put the location in the item's private notes.

Can my household share one inventory?

No. Each account is a single private workspace. You can enable a read-only link for one group at a time, but there are no shared editors or household roles.
